Oneliness in Practice
Culture · Community · Communications · Experience
I work as a fractional culture, community, and communications partner for purpose-driven organizations, embedded one to two days a week, or project by project.
-
I help organizations build communities that actually hold together, not through features or content alone, but through the quality of belonging they create over time. This means designing the architecture from the ground up: the purpose and values that anchor it, the programming and events that give it rhythm, the communications and engagement that keep people genuinely present, the moderation and facilitation that holds the relational quality of the space.
What this looks like in practice:
Community strategy and engagement models
Monthly or seasonal programming
Event design and facilitation
Newsletter, email, and social communications for community audiences
Onboarding, retention, and engagement strategy and community care practices
-
I design what happens inside the gathering: the curatorial logic, the question at the center, the format and arc of the experience, and the details that make the difference between an event that is attended and one that is felt. I bring the questions of the zeitgeist into rooms that are ready to go deeper, from loneliness and belonging, AI and artificial intimacy, masculinity and disconnection, ecological grief, the future of work and care, and design the formats that bring these questions to life.
What this looks like in practice:
Programme and season curation — themes, through-lines, speakers, guests
Event and experience design from intimate gatherings to large-scale cultural programming
Unconventional and immersive formats
Online and hybrid programme development — virtual learning journeys, facilitated series, community convenings
I draw from the Oneliness design principles: intimacy, depth, play, and awe and from a decade of facilitating across cultures, sectors, and scales. Every experience is designed to leave people with something they are still thinking about and feeling into days later.
-
I help organizations find and shape their narrative: what the work is actually about, who it is for, and how to say it in a way that is honest, resonant, and culturally alive. Then I build the communications strategy and content that carries that story across channels, over time, without losing depth or voice along the way.
What this looks like in practice:
Narrative development and organizational messaging what you are, who you are for, how you say it
Editorial strategy: voice, tone, content pillars, formats
Writing: essays, features, thought leadership, campaign copy, newsletters
Podcast series: concept, format, guest strategy, editorial direction, scripts
Communications strategy for launches, programmes, and organizational change
What I bring
A decade of senior experience building culture, community, and communications work, from the ground up and at scale. I have led editorial and content teams, developed programming and podcast series, designed gatherings from dinner tables to festival stages, built community strategy from a few hundred members to 50,000, and written for and about the questions this work brings to life.
My approach is shaped by the lens of Oneliness: the belief that community, communication, and culture require designing from our relational nature rather than performing connection.
I work best with organizations where the mission matters — and where the work is genuinely connected to the questions of loneliness, belonging, human flourishing, care, and community.
